Our license models
CAD Schroer software is supplied with an extremely flexible licence management module. Single-user licences can be assigned to individual end-user computers for standalone use, and site-network licences can be served to multiple end-user computers on a first-come, first-served basis.
Single user licenses
Single-user licenses are assigned to specific end-user computers, and are often referred to as node-locked licenses. The user can use the licensed software on a computer in accordance with the license for that computer. The use of the software is controlled by a license key (keyfile). A single-user license cannot be used on multiple computers.
The advantage of a single-user license is that the licensed software is always available for use on the computer. No other user can use the license at the same time, or block the use of the license software.
Site-Network Licenses
Also known as Floating Licenses or Concurrent-Use Licenses.
Network licenses are not assigned to specific end-user computers, they are instead served from a nominated license server computer to end-user computers on the network. Network licenses can be served to any number of end-user computers on a first-come, first-served basis. The supplied license server software issues network licenses on request until the total number of network licenses are all in use.
The advantage of a network license facilitates a much higher utilization of the software and licenses, especially when there is a large number of occasional users.
Network licenses can also be used without a network connection thanks to license borrowing functionality. With license borrowing, licenses can be temporarily borrowed from your pool of network licenses, which is ideal for occasional mobile use. This offers tremendous flexibility for home-office working, and for sales representatives who can now present their proposals at the customer’s site.
Advantages of network licenses
- Ultimate flexibility
- Better utilization across the company
- License borrowing (e.g. for home office use)
- Simple license management
- Easier license updates
- Can be served to any number of computers on the site network
License-borrowing
Borrow and return licenses flexibly from your network
CAD Schroer enables maintenance customers of M4 DRAFTING (formerly MEDUSA4) from Premium package and M4 PLANT (formerly MPDS4) for all packages to use their network licenses in a highly flexible way. When required, licenses can be taken from the customer’s pool of network licenses for temporary mobile use (license borrowing). This enables the user to convert their allocated network license into a mobile computer workstation license and back again.
With license borrowing the software can be used flexibly at your premises, or at a customer site, or in your home office. License borrowing is a free service from CAD Schroer.
For more details, please see our license terms and conditions: Download PDF
* The conversion of a network license to a mobile computer workstation is limited to a maximum of 28 days at a time.
