For companies that have not yet used VR technologies to review and present their own designs, the decision to use these new technologies can be a difficult one without previous experience. To make it easier for VR beginners to get started with virtual reality, the software manufacturer CAD Schroer is now offering its i4 VIRTUAL REVIEW VR viewer completely free of charge for the first 3 months.
Bringing Industrial Virtual Reality (iVR) into mainstream use
The i4 VIRTUAL REVIEW VR viewer is specially designed for use in companies. It enables 3D CAD models to be realistically viewed full-size in virtual reality. 3D CAD models in FBX and OBJ file formats can be loaded directly. STEP files can also be loaded via a separate converter.
For a full VR experience, the Viewer can be used with either Microsoft® Mixed Reality or HTC Vive® VR glasses. The Viewer’s functionality includes loading multiple models, scaling, moving, annotation and measuring, as well as taking screenshots. Individual projects and views of a project can also be saved. Of course, particular attention has been paid to ensuring the level of immersion is as high as possible in order to create a realistic experience.
Don’t wait too long to get started with Virtual Reality (VR)
CAD Schroer’s offer gives companies the chance to fully assess the advantages of Virtual without obligation. For example, with VR, designs can be reviewed full-size at a very early stage in the design process. Customers can realistically experience their proposed new machinery, plant or factory design prior to construction, and give even better feedback. VR can also provide maintenance and service teams with invaluable insights for planning purposes.
