Question:
How do I connect STHENO/PRO to Pro/INTRALINK® ?

Answer:
The variables:

PDM_LDB_PATH
and
INTRALINK_DIR

in the < STHENO-Installation >\master_project\medilink\command\login.bat, file must be defined anew.

The variable PDM_LDB_PATH directs to the directory in which the file local.ddb is located. This is the local Workspace-data base from Pro/INTRALINK.
Variables, e.g. for the usernames, can be given in form of: {USERNAME}.

Example: PDM_LDB_PATH d:\{USERNAME}\intralink\workspace

The variable INTRALINK_DIR directs to the directory in which the Pro/INTRALINK Client is installed.

Example: INTRALINK_DIR c:\programme\proiclient32

The file type:
- STHENO_sheet
with the extension:
- *.tsh
must be created, so that Pro/INTRALINK files of the *.tsh type will be accepted.

This must be done under:
INTRALINK>Administration:Objects
Please pay attention to the upper/lower case at the STHENO_sheet!!!!!

Question:
How do I update Pro/ENGINEER without having to re-install STHENO/PRO?

Answer:
There are two options:

Option 1:
Install the latest Pro/ENGINEER release, then run the file install.bat located at \medpro\setup\ and enter the required configuration information for your new Pro/ENGINEER installation.
If you cannot find the install.bat file, you are running an older version of STHENO/PRO. In that case, use your installation CD and tick the “Configure Pro/ENGINEER” option, following the on-screen instructions.

Option 2:
a.) Copy the file pro_medconv.exe from /Proe2STHENO/bin to \i486nt\obj
b.) Find the batch file that starts your original version of Pro/ENGINEER (for example proe/Wildfire[version#]/bin/proe1.bat – file names may vary; typically any desktop shortcut you use to start Pro/ENGINEER will point to this file) and copy all the lines that relate to setting up STHENO/PRO into the new batch file. The text will typically start with the word “set” and the final line will read “call C:\STHENO_Vx_x\master_project\login.bat”
c.) Find the original configuration file < proe_install >   ext\config.pro and copy the
protk.dat entry into your new config.pro file

Question:
Why am I unable to start license daemon on a PC system on which the PTC license system is already installed and running?

Answer:
The following message appears in the csglmd.log:

9:51:50 (lmgrd) License file: "C:\STHENO\license\csglmd.lic"
9:51:50 (lmgrd) Starting vendor daemons ...
9:51:51 (lmgrd) Started CSGLMD (internet tcp_port 0 pid 228)
9:51:51 (lmgrd) Started CSGLMD (internet tcp_port 0 pid 236)
9:52:06 (lmgrd) Please correct problem and restart daemons
9:52:06 (lmgrd) Please correct problem and restart daemons

To solve this problem, use the latest
lmgrd.exe
z.B. 8.2a, e.g. 8.2a for the PTC license server.
Finish the PTC license server process.
Just copy it from the < STHENO >\bin directory to the equivalent directory for your PTC license Server.
Re-start the license server.

Question:
Is it possible to cut out a small part of some geometry, and display it at a larger scale on another part of the drawing?

Answer:
Yes. This requires the use of two features of STHENO/PRO, the 'Edit->Area Copy' and the 'Special Scale Area' commands. Under the EDIT pull-down menu are the commands 'Area Cut' and 'Area Copy'. The 'Drawing areas with a special scale' tool is on the toolbar and allows the user to assign a special scale to a marked area of the sheet.

The workflow is as follows:

First define the 'special scale area' on the sheet.
Click on the 'Drawing areas with a special scale' tool to display the 'Scale Views' dialog.
In the input boxes at the bottom of the dialog, enter suitable values into the 'Name' and 'Scale' fields. (e.g.: Name: Detail1, Scale: 5:1).
From the seven icons along the top of the dialog, choose the 'Defines the size of the ScaleView' icon (second from right end). Now probe on the sheet a diagonal line marking the bottom left and top right corners of a rectangular box. This area will become your special scale area. Make sure the area is large enough to display your enlarged geometry and the associated dimensions.
Now activate the 'Creates a new ScaleView' icon (first on left) from the top of the dialog. The input boxes will be empty and the name of your ScaleView will appear in the pull-down list of 'Available Scale Views'. This special scale area is now ready to use. You can close the dialog using the Cancel button.
Now copy the required geometry.
Identify the area of geometry you are interested in and draw a line around that area. The line can be any style/type and any shape, even circles will work. Note that the line defining the area must be a closed line; use the right mouse button (RMB) menu 'Close line' command.
With your area line selected, activate the 'Edit>Area Copy' (or 'Edit>Area Cut') command. Your selected area line will become de-selected and all geometry passing through the area will become selected. You can use the middle mouse button to remove or add geometry to the selection.
When you have selected the geometry you want, use the RMB menu to activate the Apply command. You must now select a datum point for the geometry you are to Cut/Copy. Probing the datum point will action the Cut/Copy operation and the geometry will be placed in the STHENO/PRO paste buffer.
You can now use the RMB menu and select the Paste command to put the geometry onto the drawing. As you move the paste image into the 'special scale area' it will automatically change scale. Position it as required and then you can dimension it in that area.

Question:

Question:
If I load AutoCAD drawings into STHENO/PRO, can your product automatically condition the data to suit my drafting conventions?

Answer:
Yes, STHENO/PRO can be set up to automatically map line styles, text styles, layers, colours etc. during opening and saving. Because you can select different settings when saving a drawing, you can work in your accustomed fashion, but also generate results in the convention requested by your customer or supplier. This drastically cuts the time and effort required when exchanging data with third parties.

Question:
If I've modified my STHENO/PRO desktop and/or defaults so features and functions no longer work, or just want to get my desktop back to square one - how do I reset it?

Answer:
When you exit STHENO/PRO, modifications you've made to the desktop or defaults are automatically saved in a folder called < STHENO_Install_Directory >/master_project/User/< Your user name > to be loaded when you restart. To reset, quit STHENO/PRO, delete this folder and restart. You can save the files found in this directory for recall, or give them to other users. Create a COMMON folder and copy the files into it to set the defaults for new users. Lock down privileges on User folder if you don't want users to change company defaults. You can set the defaults saving mode from the switches tab on the Option>Defaults pull down.
