STHENO/PRO and Pro/ENGINEER® FAQsQuestion: We use Pro/ENGINEER to design component assemblies for public transport systems. We need to generate detail drawings from the models, and also present the information contained in the Pro/ENGINEER-defined assemblies and sub-assemblies on these drawings in table format. We then want to integrate this data with our SAP system in order to accurately cost engineering projects. Can your software help? Answer: Yes. STHENO/PRO brings in your Pro/ENGINEER drawings and allows you to further augment them with ease, for example with details required for accurate job costings. The system is very flexible, and we regularly customise the software to integrate it with our clients’ ERP or materials management systems. In this case we could write you a tool to read in your assembly and sub-assembly information from Pro/ENGINEER, place it in a table on the drawing, and automatically export selected component information to a spreadsheet. That output can then be used by your SAP system to generate the costings you need for client proposals. Please get in touch with your nearest CAD Schroer team, and we’d be happy to discuss your requirements in detail. Question: Can I use STHENO/PRO on multi-sheet Pro/ENGINEER drawings? Answer: Yes, switching from Pro/DETAIL to STHENO/PRO always displays the current sheet. To work on a different sheet, simply select that sheet in Pro/DETAIL. Question: What if I want to edit Pro/ENGINEER geometry, which is usually locked, in STHENO/PRO? Answer: Locking of the associative 2D elements from 3D models created in Pro/ENGINEER ensures that STHENO/PRO and PRO/ENGINEER can be used concurrently, with subsequent merging of the new 2D elements into a Pro/DETAIL sheet. However, if you want to re-use and edit the Pro/ENGINEER geometry in STHENO/PRO, you can do so by simply copying and pasting the elements onto a new sheet, where they are no longer locked and can be edited as desired. |
